Kitty looked out the kitchen window last week and saw this pileated woodpecker digging away at a tree in the swamp. He stayed on the job until he had a hole more than an inch deep. He’d pound away for a while, then carefully examine the bottom of the hole and dip in for a snack. He’d then return to digging.
